Our commitment is to an Alberta where most cancer is prevented.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) and its partners are transforming cancer prevention with Albertans. With TheBigBurn.ca we are making cancer prevention information and tools more accessible to parents in Alberta. The website connects you to a host of useful resources and strategies you can use to talk to your kids about the dangers of indoor tanning and help reduce their risk of skin cancers and other ill effects.
AHS supports people every day in their efforts to prevent cancer and find it early when treatment works better. Here are just some ways AHS does this:
The Government of Alberta provides support to AHS through the Alberta Cancer Prevention Legacy Fund (ACPLF) to make an even bigger difference in cancer prevention and screening. Through a coordinated approach, we are working with communities, workplaces, and health care providers to determine which innovative strategies work best to reduce the risk of cancer in Alberta. We also work closely with Alberta Innovates Health Solutions to ensure a strong connection to priority areas of cancer prevention research.
Together we can reduce the risk of cancer in Alberta by up to 50%.
